Symoane Mercurio has been promoted to the position of Director. In addition to her technical excellence, Symoane exhibits a very practical and commercial approach to finding solutions for her clients.
As a litigation and dispute resolution specialist, Symoane advises on contractual and franchising disputes, insolvency matters and general debt recovery. She also specialises in all facets of the Personal Property Securities Act.
Currently, Symoane sits on the Board for Football South Australia and the Women’s World Cup Legacy Committee in South Australia. She has recently been appointed to the Office of the Small Business Commissioner’s Mediation Services Panel, where she brings a well-rounded approach to dispute resolution.
Five lawyers have been promoted to the role of Special Counsel.
Amanda Brady is responsible for running dispute resolution and construction matters in the State and Federal Courts. She also specialises in liquor licensing matters.
Andrew Bullock practises in construction, intellectual property and general litigation in the Federal, Supreme and District Courts of South Australia, New South Wales and Western Australia.
Cassie Burfoot is the go-to adviser for a number of organisations regarding their employment law issues. She has also recently completed her Graduate Diploma in Employment and Labour Relations Law with First-Class Honours.
Emma Peters’ primary focus is in governance and compliance pertaining to modern slavery, bribery and corruption, and whistleblowing. She advises several large organisations in these areas.
Peter Healey represents clients in a broad range of employment issues and has undertaken numerous investigations with respect to workplace issues. In addition, he provides advice on employment disputes and litigation, WHS, and workers compensation claims. Peter is also undertaking a Masters in Laws in Dispute Resolution.
In addition to the above, Daniel Marateo has been promoted to Senior Associate in the Tax and Revenue team and advises clients on tax law and superannuation matters. Daniel’s knowledge of Federal and State taxation law allows him to assist clients in achieving sound taxation outcomes in discrete advisory matters, transactional matters and in dealing with revenue authorities in rulings and disputes.
Jane Kennett has been promoted to Associate in the Employment & Workplace Relations and Dispute Resolution teams. She assists with employment matters, contractual disputes, consumer and construction law disputes, unfair dismissal claims and general negligence and commercial disputes.
Joel Lisk has been promoted to Associate in our Corporate and Commercial team where he advises clients on matters pertaining to commercial transactions, privacy and compliance, and consumer law. Joel has particular expertise in the emerging field of space law and is currently completing a PhD on the legal, regulatory and policy frameworks of space.
