This new Cowell Clarke and University of Adelaide course is the first of its kind to be offered in Australia, presenting attendees with a unique opportunity to learn more about this up and coming area of law.
Course Summary
This course provides a survey of the legal and policy issues associated with the domestic and international legal regimes regulating commercial activities in, to and from space. It will provide an overview of the UN Space Treaties and the requirements imposed on States to implement and comply with international law with respect to all national space activities. It will examine domestic Australian space law and compare that to regimes in US, UK, New Zealand and other jurisdictions. It will also provide an overview of relevant commercial law issues such as technology transfer and international business activities.
Speakers and Presenters
In addition to internationally recognised specialists in space law from the University of Adelaide, including Professor Melissa de Zwart, Joel Lisk, a Lawyer from Cowell Clarke will be teaching this course in an interactive, intensive mode over one week. Joel has written extensively on the commercial and legal issues associated with private space activities and presented at major international conferences in Australia and overseas on emerging legal and policy frameworks applicable to space.
